UK glamour model Katie Price sparkled at the Vienna Opera Ball last night. Which is more than can be said for star guest Lindsay Lohan who failed to turn up for the society event despite having demanded a private jet to fly her to Austria from L.A.
The event at the Vienna State Opera House which attracts royalty and aristocrats from around the continent is one of the most prestigious dates on the Austrian social calendar.
Lohan was offered $150,000 to be the date of veteran Austrian tycoon Richard Lugner, who famously pays a different female celebrity to be his date at the ball every year.
Previous escorts include Nicollette Sheridan, Dita Von Teese, Paris Hilton, Raquel Welch and Sophia Loren.
But the Mean Girls star failed to show after spending too long shopping in duty free. She was then unable to come up with the £14,000 fee for delaying the flight and instead spent the evening partying at a H-Wood night club in Hollywood.
The slap in the face was made doubly worse by the fact the 23 year-old actress had already driven her host to distraction over her demands
He told the Austrian press: “She refuses to take a scheduled flight and told me I must get a private jet sorted out for her. I managed to book an eight-seat jet, but she refused to accept my offer.
“She claimed it would be too uncomfortable and she would not be able to get any sleep when travelling in it. I haven’t got a choice, I suppose.”
The party hard bisexual Mean Girls star had replaced Price as Lugner’s first choice after he un-invited the newly wed glamour model mother-of-three after she broke a media embargo about the invite.
But Katie had the last laugh last night as dressed in a stunning baby blue blue, strapless ball gown and dripping with diamonds she stole the limelight, while Lugner was left cursing Lohan’s no show and forced to call on younger girlfriend Anastasia 'Katzi' Sokol to be his escort at the eleventh hour.
Katie, who was invited as a guest by Austrian entrepreneurial couple Irene and Alexander Mayer arrived in Vienna alone without new hubby CBB winner Alex Reid. During her trip the horse- mad model took the opportunity to visit the Spanish riding school
Her date for the night was German playboy and nightclub tycoon Marcus Prinz von Anhalt, the 'adopted' son of Zsa Zsa Gabor and her husband Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt.
